Film Screening: Omoiyari with Kishi Bashi

  • Palm Theater 817 Palm Street San Luis Obispo, CA, 93401 United States (map)

THU, MAY 28 | 7:30PM | PALM THEATER | $15

Violinist and songwriter Kaoru Ishibashi (Kishi Bashi) embarks on a musical journey to explore WWII-era Japanese incarceration, cultural assimilation, and what it means to be a minority in America today. Along the way, he improvises and writes music in an effort to better understand his own identity as a bi-cultural American. Using archival footage and visual storytelling, Ishibashi creates a portrait of America from the perspective of someone caught between two worlds.

This screening will be accompanied by a live Q&A with the Composer and Director, Kishi Bashi.

Presented in partnership with SLO Film Center.

This event is not part of the standard season subscription.
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased through SLOFILMFEST.ORG via the link above.

If you like this event, check out Kishi Bashi LIVE at Sensorio Paso Robles the evening prior.

Offers a unique perspective on the bi-cultural experience and the process of making art on the artist’s own terms.
