Arturo O'Farrill Trio

  • Alex and Faye Spanos Theatre 1 Grand Avenue San Luis Obispo, CA, 93405 United States (map)

THURS, SEPT 17 | 7:30PM | SPANOS THEATRE | $55

Mexican American pianist, composer, and bandleader Arturo O’Farrill is one of the most influential voices in contemporary jazz and Latin music today. A 6-time GRAMMY Award winner and 2-time Latin GRAMMY winner, O’Farrill has built an extraordinary career by blending Afro-Latin traditions, modern jazz, and innovative contemporary composition into a sound that is both deeply rooted and boldly forward-looking.

Hailed by DownBeat as “one of our greatest living pianists,” O’Farrill has released nearly 25 albums and collaborated with legendary artists including Dizzy Gillespie, Tito Puente, Wynton Marsalis, Harry Belafonte, and Carla Bley. Beyond the stage, he is a passionate educator, advocate, and founder of Belongó and the acclaimed Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, organizations dedicated to preserving and advancing the music of the Americas while fostering cultural understanding and social change.

Born in Mexico City and raised in New York, O’Farrill carries forward the groundbreaking musical legacy of his father, Chico O’Farrill, while continuing to redefine it for new generations. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience a visionary artist whose performances celebrate the rich intersections of jazz, Latin music, and cultural expression.
