SUN, FEB 21 | 2:00PM | HAROLD MIOSSI HALL | $29-45
Led by Ian Carney and Corbin Popp, Lightwire Theater combines electroluminescent puppetry, movement, and music to create dazzling performances that tell stories without words. In The Adventures of Tortoise and Hare: The Next Gen, the company begins with Aesop’s beloved fable before imagining what happens ten years later, when Tortoise and Hare are parents navigating a world filled with modern distractions.
When Tortoise Junior and Lil’ Hare embark on an adventure of their own, a new race unfolds - one that leads them into unexpected territory. As smartphones, video games, and screens compete for attention, old rivals Tortoise and Hare must work together to reconnect with their children and bring them safely home.
Featuring a vibrant soundtrack that blends classical and contemporary music, stunning visual effects, and Lightwire Theater’s signature glowing characters, this imaginative production brings a timeless tale into a brilliant new light while exploring themes of family, friendship, and the importance of staying connected.
This performance is appropriate for all ages. The show performs in darkness so that the Lightwire characters can be seen onstage. If children are uncomfortable at any point throughout the performance, parents are welcome to take them to the lobby. The monitors will be on with sound showing a stream of the performance so it can still be enjoyed. Every child is different, so please use your best judgement for your child.
